Gailene Holland, DVM

Dr. Gailene Holland was born in Texas but spent her childhood living in North Carolina, Virginia, Saudi Arabia, and England having been brought up in in a military family. Throughout her upbringing, she knew she wanted to one day become a Veterinarian and has since achieved those aspirations.

Possessing a formal education from the University of Tennessee in Special Education, Dr. Holland went on to get her masters in Deaf Education with a specialization in multiple disabilities from Gallaudet University. After undergraduate school, Dr. Holland achieved her doctorate in veterinary medicine from The University of Georgia in 2003 graduating Magna Cum Laude.

Dr. Holland is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the South Carolina Association of Veterinarians. Here at Ambassador Animal Hospital, Dr. Holland provides care in preventative medicine, internal medicine, and implementing low-stress techniques. What she finds most rewarding about being a veterinarian is being able to see improvement in the patients’ quality of life.

Away from the hospital, Dr. Holland enjoys spending time with her husband, Derham, who is a Special Education Teacher, and their wonderful son. She likes going camping, hammocking, backpacking, hiking, boating, rock climbing, watching movies, and looking after the family pets. The Hollands own two Labradors named Cerci and Suki, a Golden/Boykin mix named Tiny, one Domestic Medium Hair cat named Little Boy, and two Domestic Short Hair Cats named Coal and Theo.
